Partial race report 2012

Just came across emails I sent a friend during Spa 2012 :

Bike is out of customs and at the track. Had to rebuild rear master cylinder so the rear brake would work so it would pass tech.

Fired it up and scared the neighbors. The 2 extra 55 w lights are a big hit . If nothing else it causes jealousy because I have 3 front lights instead of other competitors 1 or 2.

Qualifying today. More to come later......

Hi.

Well we qualified.

Conditions were changeable today. Pissed down this morning. Rick my riding partner was 12 th fastest in the wet and we ended up with a 3.18 from all sessions. I had better luck with conditions and ended up with a fairly leisurely 3.12 which is 3 seconds faster than last year's qualifying.

No major problems with the bike. The starter fuse fell out, I blew a low beam circuit fuse which blew the headlight bulb and took the high beam filament with it, and in keeping with this year's emphasis on electrical issues a rear bulb blew.

On the plus side the bike is pulling really well and powers out of corners with the best of them. Topping out at 7500 down the Kemmel straight so gearing is perfect. Peak power is at 7,000.

People seem to be impressed with the bikes performance and as usual it draws a crowd every time we start it up (open pipes will do that).

Race starts at 8.30pm tomorrow.

More to follow. I'm knackered.
